BIKANER

Bikaner was founded in 1488 AD by Rao Bika Ji.. It's located in north west part of Rajasthan state in INDIA.
The imposing palaces, beautiful and richly sculptured temples of red and yellow sand stones display some of the finest creations of Rajput civilization.

I accidentally got a chance to visit Bikaner with some of my classmates, seniors & few juniors. Actually, an inter-college fest was going on at Bikaner Engineering College. For my mates may be, it was a serious trip but for me it was a chance to explore a new place ! :)

I guess it was in the month of October,2009 !

Bikaner is about 321 kms from jaipur. Oh sorry ! I forgot to mention, I was studying in jaipur. :P This was the first trip from college so may be, this was one of the reasons why i was more exicted.
With a happy note we left our college boundaries late in the night & then the journey begins~ Full-on masti, gana bajana, nachna, getting pictures clicked in the middle of the journey etc etc.

It was getting colder as we were reaching to near to bikaner may be because of the desert but whatever, after a journey of around 7 to 8 hours we finally reached our destination !

The bus dropped us near JUNAGHAR FORT. This fort was built by Raja Rai Singhji. It was so beautiful that I wanted to get in at that very moment but unfortunately, it was early in the morning & it was CLOSED >.<

It was there near the fort
Junaghar fort

From there a college bus came to pick us which took us to the place where they have done some arrangements for our stay. It was girl's hostel for girls & some Dharamshala sorta thing for boys. I really didn't like the idea of staying in two different places but couldn't help it, seniors were there. :/

Anyways, around 10 in the morning we all got ready to leave for the college where the fest was going on ! And we all dressed in our best & left ! :)

I am not in this pic !

The masti begins.....

Haha, this is one of my favorite !
Hahahahaha !

Yes, Thats me ! :P

The all so common picture

It was sorta couple out as well ! ;)

We were there for three days & did all sorta possible masti that we can. Its not that we were only having fun there. We also participated in Technical events & few nontechnical events a well !

Saari Competition

The winner !

The NOT winner ! :P
I was all fun ! The unexpected fun with lots of laughter !

The journey continued & we decided to explore the city on the last day, that is the third day. We went to The Junaghar Fort. It was beautiful. The fort has different styles of architecture which was the impact of the kings who ruled over it ! It has got the touch of very own Rajputana style, which was obvious, then it has mughal architecture in it & gujrati as well. The confluence of rajput, Mughal & the Gujrati architectural designs are clearly visible in Junaghar Fort, as a consequence it is one of the precious gems of Indian architecture. Ohh, I forgot to mention Semi-western style !

We later visited to Karni Temple, known as rat temple as well ! You can find unknown number of rats there. I personally didn't like that place because I don't like bad smell & i am sorta hygienic person as well. But it is a very famous temple in India. If you are lucky enough to find a white rat then your wish would be granted (some people say so). Anyways, there are many other attractions in Bikaner as in

Bikaner:Red BulletLallgarh Palace
Bikaner:Red BulletGajner Palace
Bikaner:Red BulletPrachina Museum
Bikaner:Red BulletDevi Kund Sagar (Cenotaphs)
Bikaner:Red BulletShri Laxminath Temple
Bikaner:Red BulletBhandeshwar Jain Temple
Bikaner:Red BulletCamel Breeding Farm
Bikaner:Red BulletBikaner Havelis
Bikaner:Red BulletShiv Bari Mandir

We didn't visit all these places because of the shortage of time but still we enjoyed throughly, And yeah there is a museum inside the fort. I didn't write much about it because every fort has that sorta museum where you can find arms, cloths, crockeries etc thing which was used during that period. Our journey came to end with our last visit to the market area of the city. Though bikaner is not a big city but its bhujiya, rasgulla and kachories are famous all over the world. :)

Thank you ! :)
